Rutherford EMC’s 83rd Annual Membership Meeting to be an On-Line Virtual Event

While we are disappointed to not be hosting a typical Annual Membership Meeting this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are very excited to have the technology available to bring the co-op’s business directly into your home.

Rutherford EMC’s 2020 Annual Membership Meeting will be our first ever “Virtual” event. The business session will be held virtually, meaning it can be viewed live on our website at remc.com, Saturday October 31, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m. For members who are unable to view it at that time, it will be recorded and posted on our website from October 31 until November 7, 2020, for you to view at your convenience.

To accommodate the 2020 Virtual Annual Membership Meeting, the Board of Directors has approved emergency Bylaw changes that apply to this year’s Annual Meeting only. To ensure the integrity of director elections Rutherford EMC has contracted with Survey and Ballot Systems, an independent election administrator, to handle this year’s election in advance of the virtual meeting. To conduct the 2020 Board of Director’s Election, Rutherford EMC members will vote by either a mail-in ballot or an online ballot prior to the Annual Membership meeting. Instead of in-person voting that takes place at the Annual Meeting, members who are active as of August 12, 2020 will be mailed an election packet on or about September 29, 2020. The election packet will include specific directions on how to cast your vote by either using the mail in ballot or casting it electronically on a secure online website.

Since the 2020 Annual Membership Meeting will be a virtual event, the prize drawings must be handled differently as well. Instead of the traditional process of registering your ticket at the door, every member who casts a ballot, whether by mail-in ballot or online ballot submission will be included in the prize drawings. Another change that must be made, due to this not being an in-person event, is the prizes. All prizes will be cash money and the Grand Prize will be $500! There will also be (2) - $250 cash prize drawings and (10) - $100 cash prize drawings. You will have 13 chances to win cash and there is a total of $2,000 in prize money up for grabs, so we encourage everyone to send in your ballot for a chance to win one of these great cash prizes! Each member will only be eligible to win one cash prize. The prize winners will be announced during the live meeting.
