Win a Trip to Washington, D.C.
A Week You Will Never Forget...
The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour is a remarkable program organized by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) in conjunction with the North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives (NCAEC) typically gathering more than 1,500 high school students from all corners of the nation.
Each year in early February, Rutherford EMC selects one winner and one alternate from each district to represent the cooperative in the nation's capital the following summer. The trip is fully funded and is a fantastic opportunity for all rising seniors. Participating students are eligible for one of three annual scholarships: the $2,500 Gwyn B. Price Youth Tour Scholarship, the $2,000 Katie Bunch Memorial Scholarship, and the $2,000 Youth Leadership Council Scholarship.
Participants will spend a day on Capitol Hill, providing them with firsthand experience of civics in action and have the chance to explore:
- Smithsonian Mall
- Arlington National Cemetery
- The Newseum (regarded as the world's most interactive museum)
- The Lincoln Memorial
- The Vietnam Memorial
- Many more historical sites!
Sign up begins in November every year. For more information on program dates and deadlines, you can email Brittany Pinkerton at bpinkerton@remc.com or call us at 828-245-1621 or 1-800-521-0920, extension 424.
