Youth Tour

Win a Trip to Washington, D.C.
A Week You Will Never Forget...

The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, coordinated by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and the North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives (NCAEC), is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Rutherford EMC will send three lucky students on an all-expense paid, Washington, D.C. adventure. The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour typically hosts more than 1,500 high school students from across the country. A winner and an alternate will be chosen from each of Rutherford EMC’s three districts in early February to represent the cooperative in Washington, DC.

In just five days participants will see the Smithsonian Mall, Arlington National Cemetery, the Newseum (the world’s most interactive museum), the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, and so much more. Participants will also spend a day on Capitol Hill and observe as civics comes alive. This trip will be an unforgettable experience! Tour activities begin Saturday, June 15th, with an orientation dinner in Raleigh and ends the following Friday, June 21st, with the return trip to Raleigh.

Not only will this opportunity boost college applications, but participants are eligible for one of three annual scholarships. They include the $2,500 Gwyn B. Price Youth Tour Scholarship, the $2,000 Katie Bunch Memorial Scholarship, and the $2,000 Youth Leadership Council Scholarship.
